TeamRetro is a strong Echometer alternative that pairs health checks with a full retrospective and estimation suite. Where Echometer stops short on scheduling and planning poker, TeamRetro adds scheduled retros, 200+ templates, planning poker and SOC 2 Type 2 security.

Echometer is built around psychology-backed health checks, and that’s genuinely its strength — recurring pulses grounded in University of Münster research. But teams that want the retrospective itself to go further tend to hit its edges. Sessions start manually, with no scheduling or recurring cadence; the template library sits around 50; and there’s no planning poker for estimation. Chat integrations are thin, too — Jira, but no Slack or MS Teams.

Moving across is straightforward: there’s nothing to migrate. Start your next retrospective from one of 200+ templates, invite the team by link, and carry any open actions forward so nothing slips between sessions. Pricing is a flat rate per team with unlimited members — no per-seat minimums to work around — and you’re covered by SOC 2 Type 2 and GDPR, hosted in the US or EU.

Echometer is the better fit if your priority is psychology-informed team development: recurring health-check pulses backed by research, with EU-only data residency. TeamRetro is the better fit if retrospectives are a recurring ritual you want structured, measured and actioned — with health checks, agile estimation and reporting in one place.

Frequently asked questions

What is Echometer and how does it work?
Echometer is a browser-based tool that supports agile retrospectives, 1:1 meetings, and team health checks using psychological survey prompts and guided facilitation. TeamRetro also supports agile retrospectives, polling, health checks, team radars with built in icebreakers and also supports AI features to enhance productivity. TeamRetro's interface is purpose-built for smooth facilitation, no extra setup or learning curve required.
Who is Echometer designed for?
Echometer was predominantly a polling app and now targets agile coaches, change managers, and HR teams looking to drive continuous improvement through regular surveys and structured 1:1s. TeamRetro is built to support self-empowered agile teams, Scrum Masters, leadership teams and executives, regardless of industry. It provides meeting summaries, overall team health checks, sentiment and topic analysis and insightful reports and analytics for decision making.
Is Echometer free?
Echometer offers limited free starter plans for both its tools—Retrospectives and 1:1 Health Check Meetings—but with notable restrictions. For 1:1 meetings, the free plan allows a manager to run up to two 1:1 series with two people. For retrospectives, the free version lets one team run just one retro per month. Teams will quickly need to upgrade to access more functionality once the free 21 day trial is over. TeamRetro offers a 30 day free trial with full features and no limitations. You can facilitate as many meetings and have multiple teams, retros and health checks.
What is Echometer’s pricing or subscription plans?
Echometer has separate pricing for its 1:1 Meeting Tool and Retrospective Tool, and both come with a 21-day free trial before any subscription fee is charged. For retrospectives, the Pro plan costs ~$40 USD per month per team, while the Business plan is ~$70 USD per month per team, offering extras like SSO support, domain filtering, and priority support. For 1:1 meetings, a paid seat at ~$40 USD per month per facilitator with a minimum of 3 seats ie. 120USD per month. In comparison, TeamRetro offers a much simpler and more affordable option— at just $25 USD per month per team for unlimited users, unlimited retrospectives, health checks, integrations, and advanced facilitation tools. No complex tiers, and everything is included under one flat rate. The price per team drops as the number of teams increase (Volume based pricing) allowing you to scale more easily.
Can Echometer integrate with other tools (like Jira)?
Yes, Echometer integrates with Jira, but setup and options are limited and generally tied to their Business plan or above. TeamRetro also supports direct Jira and Confluence integrations, along with Slack, MS Teams, and much more. See the full integration list here.
Do surveys remain anonymous?
In Echometer, feedback is anonymous by default—especially during retrospectives and peer feedback. When team members (peers) give feedback, their names are hidden and responses are grouped so no one can tell who said what. However, if a manager gives feedback, their name might be visible depending on how the session is set up. On the other hand, TeamRetro offers 3 options when it comes to anonymous feedback. One is fully named where all names are displayed. The next is alias, where pseudo-avatars are given to participants, and the last is fully anonymous. This makes TeamRetro a more flexible and trust-building option for teams that value open and honest reflection.
Is my data secured and protected with Echometer?
Echometer uses standard security practices including TLS encryption, ISO 27001-certified data centers, secure password hashing, and optional SSO on higher-tier plans. It is also GDPR compliant. However, Echometer is not SOC 2 Type 2 certified, which may be a consideration for organizations that require independently audited security controls. TeamRetro on the other hand, is built with enterprise-grade security from the ground up. It is SOC 2 Type 2 and GDPR compliant and can be hosted in either the US or the EU on AWS Servers.
