TeamRetro is a focused Metro Retro alternative built specifically for agile retrospectives and team health checks. Instead of a freeform canvas, it gives you guided, time-boxed facilitation, automated grouping, action tracking and SOC 2 Type 2 security on every plan.

First, the name. Metro Retro is now called Spreo. The product shipped as Metro Retro from 2019, was renamed Ludi in August 2025, and was renamed again to Spreo in July 2026. Same company (Deqo Software Ltd, London), same product, same accounts, and metroretro.io now redirects to spreo.io. If you remember Metro Retro, Spreo is where it went. Everything below compares TeamRetro with the product as it ships today.

The second change matters more. Spreo is now marketed as online whiteboard software for agile teams, with retrospectives sitting alongside sprint planning, refinement and workshops as one use case on the canvas. That is a reasonable place to compete, but it is a different product to the one you need if retrospectives are a standing team habit. A canvas gives you space; it does not run the session, remember last time’s actions, or tell you whether the team is getting better.

TeamRetro is built the other way around. You open your next retrospective from one of 275+ templates, the team joins with a single link, ideas group automatically, and open actions carry forward from where the last discussion ended. Health check radars trend the same questions sprint after sprint, so improvement is something you can see rather than something you assume. Switching is a clean start with nothing to export or migrate, pricing is flat and team-based rather than per member, and every plan includes SOC 2 Type 2 and GDPR compliance.

Spreo suits teams who want a visual, playful canvas for planning, refinement and the occasional workshop, and it is genuinely good at that: the facilitation gadgets, the shared jukebox and the illustrated stickies do lift the energy of a live session. TeamRetro is the better fit when retrospectives are a recurring ritual you want structured, measured and actioned.

Frequently asked questions

What happened to Metro Retro?
Metro Retro was renamed Ludi in August 2025, then renamed again to Spreo in July 2026. It is the same product from the same company, Deqo Software Ltd in London, with the same customer accounts. The old metroretro.io address now redirects to spreo.io. So if you are looking for Metro Retro, the tool you want is Spreo. This page compares TeamRetro with the product as it ships today under the Spreo name.
What is Spreo and how does it work?
Spreo describes itself as online whiteboard software for agile teams: an infinite canvas with sticky notes, live cursors, voting, timers and host controls, and a template library of 100+ boards covering retrospectives, sprint planning, refinement, planning poker and workshops. Retrospectives are one use case on that canvas rather than the whole product. TeamRetro is built the other way around. Retrospectives and team health checks are the product, so you get guided stages, automated grouping, action carry-over between sessions and health check radars that trend over time. If you want a blank canvas for occasional workshops, Spreo fits. If retrospectives are a recurring ritual you want structured and measured, TeamRetro fits.
Is Spreo free? What are the pricing plans?
Spreo has no free plan. You get a 30-day free trial, after which the account pauses to a read-only state until you pick a plan. Pricing is per member: the Starter plan is $4 per member per month billed annually ($5 monthly) and includes one team space, and the Business plan is $6 per member per month billed annually, which is where multiple team spaces, the Jira integration and SAML SSO live. Enterprise is custom priced. TeamRetro also offers a 30-day free trial with full access. After that, pricing starts at $20/month billed annually for the Single Team Plan, which supports up to 25 users. Plans scale by team, not by user count: a Small Org Plan at $50/month for 3 teams, and a Large Org Plan at $75/month for 6 teams, all with unlimited users. In short, Spreo charges per member while TeamRetro charges per team, which stays more predictable as a team grows.
Is my data secured and protected with Spreo?
Spreo hosts entirely in the EU (Amsterdam), encrypts data in transit with TLS and at rest with AES-256, and offers SAML SSO on paid plans. It is GDPR compliant. It is not SOC 2 certified itself: its published security page cites the SOC 2, ISO 27001 and PCI-DSS certifications of its data centre provider, which is a different thing from an audit of the vendor. TeamRetro holds its own SOC 2 Type 2 certification, is GDPR compliant, and can be hosted in either the US or the EU. Details are on the TeamRetro security page.
How do I run a voting round or collect feedback?
Spreo runs voting rounds on the board, with configurable votes per person and voting on grouped topics, plus a private writing mode so people write before anyone sees. TeamRetro builds voting into the facilitated flow: dot voting, votes set per person or per idea, unlimited facilitator votes, and independent voting to reduce bias. Votes are tallied and the discussion is presented in order of most voted, so the room moves straight to what matters.
Can Spreo integrate with Jira, Slack, or other tools?
Spreo integrates with Jira, with a two-way sync on the Business plan and above. That is the only product integration it lists. Slack, Google, GitHub and LinkedIn appear as sign-in providers rather than integrations. TeamRetro integrates with Jira, Trello, Confluence, Microsoft Teams, Slack, Linear, Azure DevOps and more, so actions land where the work already lives.
