How the game works:<\/p>\n

L\u2019objectif du Ball Point est d\u2019aider l\u2019\u00e9quipe Scrum \u00e0 mieux naviguer dans les projets Agile. By understanding the agile production process, the team can appreciate the importance of self-organization, flow, and iterative working.<\/p>\n

R\u00e8gles du jeu de balle Agile<\/p>\n

The goal is to, as one team, get as many balls through the system as possible in 3 sprints.<\/p>\n

The rules are as follows<\/p>\n

    \n
  • There are 3 minutes per iteration and 5 iterations<\/li>\n
  • In between, there is a 1-minute retrospective<\/li>\n
  • The ball needs to start and end with the same person<\/li>\n
  • The ball must have passed through everyone in the team<\/li>\n
  • The ball must have air time<\/li>\n
  • It can\u2019t be passed to the person next to them.<\/li>\n
  • If the ball is dropped, it does not count.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Gather the team and provide the goals and instructions.<\/p>\n

    Ask them to estimate how many balls they will get through each iteration. You can do one estimation at the start of the cycle and another short estimation in between each iteration.<\/p>\n

    Start the process and time the activity. Let them play it out, and then record the number of balls transferred. Record the score and then time their retrospective, allowing them to change how it is played. They can then come up with new strategies as well as new estimates.<\/p>\n

    Once all iterations are completed, run a debrief. You can ask questions such as<\/p>\n

    • How important were the retrospectives? What would have happened if there was none, more or less time to reflect?<\/li>\n
    • How different was the last iteration from the first?<\/li>\n
    • Did you experience the concept of flow?<\/li>\n
    • Which iteration stood out?<\/li>\n
    • How did you feel like working as a team?<\/li>\n
    • Did leadership change during the iterations?<\/li>\n
    • What did you learn from playing this game?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      • Grouping the large groups into smaller ones and creating zones where people can stand.<\/li>\n
      • Having rules around which colored or numbered balls have to go first<\/li>\n
